"Are You Good Enough"

Many of us are bound to be haunted by negative thoughts like, “I am not good enough” or “I will not be able to do this” or “I will surely mess this up”, before we can even attempt something. Sometimes, psychologists refer to this as an escape syndrome because you don’t want to try hard enough and your mind just wants to take it easy, leading you to confirm your negative opinion about yourself.

This negative thinking alone has the ability to pull down your potential and current performance. Instead of allowing these thoughts to cloud your actual talent, skill, knowledge and potential, you need to start feeding your brain positive thoughts about yourself. The brain responds to your experiences and associations. A bad experience in the past may lead you to believe that something might not work out and will be a waste of time. But this may not be the case. You may be equipped to do it now. You cannot base the rest of your life on negative experiences. We must be able to let go of the past to create a new reality for ourselves.

Always maintain distance from cynical and negative people who will continue to discourage themselves and those around them. Associate yourself with people who are positive and appreciative. Those who have a good word to say about everything can be energy boosters and are essential for our survival in this competitive world. We can’t always have an external voice to affirm our greatness, we have to rely on our internal affirmations. Be your own best friend to constantly stand up for yourself and support yourself instead of criticising yourself.

Constantly comparing ourselves to others can be a real demotivator. Stop doing that to yourself. Instead, count your blessings and try to be better than the person you were yesterday.
